Cardrona ski field is renowned among skiers and snowboarders for dry snow and wide slopes. Setting the highest standards for snow skiing in New Zealand and leading the way forward amongst all New Zealand ski resorts.

With the field being higher and drier than any others, this means naturally better snow. With a base elevation of 1670m above sea level, Cardrona is higher, colder and renowned for getting the best snow and keeping it that way. A fact attested to by their many skiers and snowboarders .

As the lifts go out rather than up people are spread away from each other rather than stacked - Cardrona Trailmapmeaning more personal space. There are 3 separate and distinct basins from one side to the other. But each has a good range of terrain. Therefore you get more individual intermediate runs particularly through the middle of the basins and that is one of the key things Cardrona is renown for.

By relying on width rather than height to provide terrain, none of their slopes go below 1500m. Meaning Cardrona is colder with dryer, softer snow, less affected by freeze thaw until very late in the season.

In recent years Cardrona's location and aspect have seen fewer closed days than many other areas in New Zealand! More reliable means more snow and more time on it for you.
