River Rafting, the ultimate Adventure in Queenstown, New Zealand:
There are several operators for White Water river rafting in Queenstown. Some details of the two rivers are as follows: :
Kawarau River Rafting:
The Kawarau river is the largest volume river rafted commercially in New Zealand, ideal for first-time rafters. Stretches of quiet water allow ample time to practice paddling techniques, look at the scenery or get caught up in a friendly water fight.
Four rapids on the Kawarau River are exciting and the scenery is superb --
Smiths Falls, Twin Bridges, Do Little Do Nothing, and of course, the unforgettable 400m Chinese Dog Leg to end your trip, make this a great introduction to the thrills of white water river rafting.
Between rapids you will experience calmer stretches of river, with a unique perspective of the historic Kawarau Bungy Bridge as your raft passes under.
All river rafting equipment, clothing and transport (including wetsuit, wetsuit jacket, spray jacket, paddle, helmet, wetsuit booties, and a life jacket) are provided on both rivers.
Shotover River Rafting:
The Shotover River is the second option available year round except 1 June - 1 September, when Heli-Rafting is the only option.
